Podcast about Antony Gormley
He is considered a Post-Minimalism artist, which means to go beyond the aesthetics of minimalism and gives it meaning. His artwork consists of sculptures including life size human figures. In essence he treats his body as a found object, the foundation for his sculptures. He places the sculptures in all the elements spread across his homeland and other places of the world. His purpose is the need to fill space within us and around us enriched with profound meaning. Space is activated by the figures, making it alive.
To him, his sculptures represent space that exists within us, without us, and all that is around us. A body is a catalyst, a shell. It understands experience, space, time, and memory. The collective space of our body and our inside consciousness is the hollowness, the darkness and the unknown. The darkness is the imagination, potential, it is dimensionless and limitless.
Sir Antony Gormley confronts fundamental questions of where human beings stand in relation to nature and the universe with elaborate installations and sculptures. They give strong emotions of wonder, amazement and perhaps fear. Fear of how small we are compared to the universe.

Reflection
I did my podcast and slide presentation on an artist Sir Antony Gormley. As I was researching every artist available in the list, I was instantly fascinated by his work.He is a British artist that uses his body to create sculptures. The representation of the sculpture in space has much meaning to him. I obtained mostly all pictures from his website that is well exhibited with all of the artwork that he has done over the years.
The hardest part of making the podcast was time management. It took longer than expected to complete the assignment from gathering the information, the writing, recording, and editing. I also had a hard time deciding what information and pictures were more important to follow a theme. I decided to mostly show figurative work to further emphasize his reasons of why he creates the figurative sculptures.
I can see myself teaching my students to do their own podcast about art history topics. It will be an integrated art lesson of technology and art. My students will create art history or other art topics. I myself will create art history podcast that I will incorporate into my studio lessons. Also, instructions and explanations for some projects that I might create especially for students that are special need that prefer audio over visual. I am an artist that listens to audiobooks while doing art. I will demonstrate to my classes this method of working with my hands, ears, and brain.
I enjoyed this project and the results I received from my hard work, paid off.
